I know there have to be some folks on here who work for the EVVYs. I went to tonight's show, and it was fantastic, I enjoyed myself, as did my mother. We both thought it was much better than last years' show, especially the graphics and music.

However, the student presenters were kind of... out of place a bit? I love the idea, it allows Emerson to showcase student work and it's different student organizations however, when the president of the Fashion society is presenting student film works, it's confusing and not relevant at all. It would have made more sense if a representative from one of the other film organizations presented in his place. I feel Timmy (fashion society) would be better suited for presenting the costume design award.

I also feel that if you are going to have student presenters, you should make every effort to have all of the categories have a student presenter, to make sure as many relevant organizations as possible are represented. (Hopefully this makes sense.) I can see how it saves time for the same student from WECB present all of the audio awards, however, you forget that our school has a record label, which would make sense to place with the multi-track recording award.

My next suggestion (and this is something my mom pointed out to me) is that no one said anything when the winner wasn't present. (You know, just a quick "We accept this on his/her/their behalf.) Maybe in the future you could have a nominee check-in of sorts, just so you know who plans on being at the awards, and who showed up on time, that way, there is no awkward minute of wondering where the winner is.

I understand that this is obviously too late for this year, but it is something to keep in mind for next year. I do understand that an entire year's worth of hard work goes into these awards and they can't be absolutely perfect, but I think you have something worth improving upon. Keep up the good work!

i had my graduation tickets mailed to my parents in GA. they just got on the plane to come for graduation, leaving all the tickets in their house in GA. so now i need to get a hold of someone before Monday/ on Monday to find out how i can account for the tickets i have to get them all in. help, please!

Sunrise over Boston Harbor - 5:30am today



Watching the sun rise at UMass is definitely a highlight for me on days when I'm there at - literally - the crack of dawn. It was so beautiful this morning I actually drove up to the JFK Library to watch the sun come all the way up before going to the lab.

Hey chickens.
I am feeling better, though the cold is still in my lungs and you can hear the sickness in my cough. I have a preproduction meeting for College Life tonight.
I am trying to update my website but it is difficult, esp. since I cannot find the templates and now I am locked out of editing six of the pages. O_o Not that it matters too much, because from campus I can't see the Flash additions so I wouldn't be able to tell if my swf is working or not :(
I am writing a lot more, more morning pages consistently; less "TO DO" notes (though there will always be those). I like making little Flash animations that dont move or do anything complex. But beyond that, I'm not interested in pursuing it at all. I hold hope for the video editing classes, otherwise I feel that I'm only interested in pursuing advertising graphic design (which means specializing w/ Illustrator and Photoshop). I really hope I don't turn out to be bad at motion graphics and video editing. That would change all of my career plans, including my thoughts on pursuing Higher Education...
On another note, I found something interesting that sounds like a great program, but its not my style. Its called PM Certification. Its offered by the Project Management Institute. BU has a Master's of Science in Project Management that prepares the student for PMI's PM Certification test. I think skills like the program teach are awesome ... but again, not my style. :( I'll stick to the Educational Media Design & Technology, thank you.

So this afternoon, as I was feeling really cranky after my therapy appointment and my looming paper deadline, I decided to do something awesome for myself. So I hopped off the train at Charles and walked over to Beantown Nail Spa on Beacon Hill and got me a pedicure! My toes look fucking hot with their Chick Flick Cherry polish, and my feet feel great - I win!

DO WANT.

So I have FOUR (4) tickets to the screening in the Majestic that I'm willing to give up for ONE ticket to the Wang. Anyone willing to take me up on this? A couple family members can't make it and I don't want one of my grandparents to have to sit in the Maj alone. That would kind of suck. So yeah four Majestics for one Wang. I really like saying that.

Wanna know what's annoying?

I did finish my flash project. It did work, completely. It still sucked, but what I HAD done worked. I put it on two DVD-Rs and handed it in yeterday.

I was worried about keeping everything organized and making sure it worked. They say it multiple times in the course handbook, MAKE SURE YOUR FILES ARE NAMED SO WE KNOW WHAT TO OPEN, etc etc.

So I renamed everything to do with my final project (html, swf, project file) FINAL PROJECT. And to further make sure they knew what to open, I made a folder "Flash Project Files" where I put whatever else was in the main directory into. It was mostly WIP files and a few components I had built separately and loaded into the main project.

Yeah.

Annoying, right?

So I know this is really late in the game and I must be 1 out of a hundred people looking for an extra commencement ticket but I have a family member that just got their schedule opened for graduation and I am hoping that someone could help me out with getting this ticket...
